Taipei Metro Police Help Reunite Lost Australian Couple at Taipei Main Station
Squad Leader Chao Chin-Long and Officer Wu Kang-Nuo of the First Division of the Metro Police recently assisted an Australian tourist in reuniting with his wife after they were separated during their travels at Taipei Main Station. The officers, who were on patrol duty at the time, responded immediately to the report, locating the missing woman and safely reuniting the couple. The travelers expressed heartfelt gratitude for the officers’ prompt and compassionate support.
According to the report, the Australian couple had recently arrived in Taiwan and were en route to visit the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine. While transferring at Taipei Main Station to board the MRT to Jiantan Station, they became separated due to heavy crowds and unfamiliarity with the MRT system. The husband, unable to find his wife, became visibly distressed.
Upon receiving the report, the Metro Police promptly reviewed surveillance footage and discovered that the wife had not disembarked at Taipei Main Station but had continued traveling toward Nangang Station on the Bannan Line. Officers contacted each station along the route and were informed that a foreign woman matching the description had been spotted at Yongchun Station. The officers accompanied the husband to Yongchun, where he joyfully reunited with his wife. The emotional moment ended in a warm embrace, and the couple was deeply touched by the efficiency and kindness of the Taipei Metro Police.
The Metro Police urge the public to be cautious of crowded conditions during peak hours and to keep close attention to accompanying family or friends. In the event of separation, travelers are advised to contact police immediately via the 110 emergency number or notify nearby station staff. Metro officers will act swiftly and empathetically to assist in locating lost individuals and ensure everyone’s safety.
